Yandex expands Yandex Cup prize fund by 3.5 million rubles, elevating machine learning competition

Yandex has increased the prize fund for its global programming championship, the Yandex Cup, from 12.5 million to 16 million rubles, dedicating an additional 3.5 million rubles to reward top performers in the Machine Learning category. This boost coincides with an expanded lineup of finalists in this category, now welcoming twenty-two participants, up from six, to provide additional support for ML specialists.

Yandex Cup 2024 includes three distinct tracks: one for programmers of all levels, one for junior participants aged 14-18, and a special track for Yandex employees competing for the title of company champion.

The competition spans six categories: Analytics, Frontend and Backend Development, Mobile Development, Machine Learning, and Algorithm — a dedicated category for competitive programming, available in both Russian and English to attract global participants. Junior programmers may enter the Analytics and Algorithm categories.

The championship will proceed in three stages. Following online qualifiers held from October 14-20, the semifinals will take place on November 3-4. The finals and awards ceremony will be held in Tashkent from December 2-5.

The increased prize for the Machine Learning category aligns with the company’s commitment to advancing this technology. Beginning November 1, Yandex extends the Yandex Cloud Boost AI program from six months to a full year to provide participating startups with sustained support. Program members can access the Yandex advanced resources, including the YandexGPT neural network family and the YandexART visual neural network, to drive their projects forward.
