Yandex.Market Monitors Product Availability

Internet, December 5, 2005. Starting today, Yandex.Market makes hourly updates of information on availability of goods at online shops. The service also introduced a new presentation approach: for each product, there is an indication of whether it is available or can only be ordered. The products marked as available are considered better meeting the interests of the visitor and are displayed higher on the page.

With the new functionality, the shops have to be more prompt and responsible in updating information both in their own systems and at Yandex.Market. However, this gives them an opportunity to attract more loyal customers and increase their conversion ratio — the percentage of visitors who become buyers.

“We used to update information about supplied goods once a day, which did not allow us to account for changes that occurred in the shops over the day,” says Ilya Polozhintsev, head of Yandex e-commerce. “Frequent regular monitoring of goods and services will improve the service both for the buyers and for the sellers. This is especially important in the New Year shopping season, when the shops operate under pressure, and the buyers wish to get the products as soon as possible.”
