Yandex Opens Office in Urals

Internet, March 5, 2007. Yandex opened a development office in Ekaterinburg. The branch is headed by Pavel Braslavski from the Web Search Department. This is the third regional office of Yandex: in September 2006, it opened a division in Saint Petersburg and a representative office in Ukraine a year before that.

The Urals office will be focused on developing the existing search technologies and communication services for Yandex and creating new ones. The Ekaterinburg development team has already returned from their training in Moscow and began working in the Urals capital. The new address of Yandex on the country map is 37 Komsomolskaya St., Office 902, Ekaterinburg.

"Ekaterinburg has strong economic fundamentals and is a prominent scientific and educational center. It is not surprising that the city consistently tops the rating of Internet penetration in Russian cities," comments Pavel Braslavski, head of Yandex office in Ekaterinburg. "It has plenty of talented developers, and we will be happy to have the best of them join our team."

Today, the Ekaterinburg office has ten employees. Yandex is planning to expand its local staff in the nearest future and is currently looking for information retrieval specialists and experienced C++ and Python programmers in Ekaterinburg.
