Traffic Map at Yandex

Internet, May 30, 2006. From now on, drivers in Moscow can find out what to expect traffic-wise and choose the best route to destination. Starting today, Yandex.Maps feature Moscow Traffic Jams with information about traffic conditions on the roads of the capital city. The data are promptly updated every four minutes.

Yandex.Maps show current information with driving conditions on all the major roads in Moscow and its neighborhood. The map highlights routes with traffic jams and shows locations and directions of slow traffic (to the city center, to the region, on the outer side of the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD), and on the inner side of MKAD). For each highlighted section of the road, additional data is provided – like total length and time duration of the jam. There is also an option to view and print traffic jams info as text summary.

“The traffic load on the major roads in the capital is the kind of information that changes all the time”, comments Maria Laufer, manager of Yandex.Maps service. “Now the map of Moscow is not just a static reference source, but also a dynamic tool for monitoring and planning trips around the city.”

Traffic information is provided by SMIlink information agency. Data come from the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Moscow, automatic traffic detectors, own mobile division, and a drivers’ call center. Phone calls about driving conditions on Moscow roads are welcome at the number: (495) 974−0111. Your help is greatly appreciated.
