We explicitly tell our users what they are installing before they install it. We do not hide this information behind a click or provide it in small print. If the user has to accept a license agreement to install something, they must be given the opportunity to read this document.
We do not install any program or application as part of another without the user’s knowledge. We do not automatically create shortcuts to our programs on the user’s desktop without their consent. (We used to do this (with the best intentions); however, we put a halt to this practice once we realized our users were unhappy about it, and this point was added to the list of our principles.)
We gather as much objective information as possible about how useful a new function is before adding it to the app.
